Inspired by the Inspirational

For some time I have admired the 'collage/eclectic look' but haven't known where to start or how to achieve the desired look. Thanks to the DCM challenge I have looked to Gillian and her fantastic work, and made a card taking inspiration from her distinct style. I made a list of things that I noticed she used and try to incorporate as many as I could on the card. Things like Vintage images, stitching, swirly stamps, text, keys, arrows, ribbon, diamantes, fleur de leis, crowns! etc... I am so pleased with the result and hope that I will now be on the road to success!

Good News

I passed my driving test by the way!!! Whoo hooo.... This card is for this weeks Salt Challenge set by Hazel on 'ENVOURAGEMENT'. I think it is sooo encouraging to know that someone is praying for you, to know that you are being commited to God in prayer, knowing that he hears and answers according to his perfect and good will. Amazing!

I think I have discovered a new technique! I shall call it Embossed Rubbing, please tell me if someone has discovered it before me!... (it usually is the case...) You stamp and emboss some cardstock, the place another card or paper on top rub over with a coloured pencil, and ta da! I added some decoupage to enhance the image, and a few rhinestones too.

Happy Birday Tweety

A card made using the Caardvark sketch. Quick post before I go for my DRIVING TEST- thats dedication- or just pure distraction!!! I set myself the extra challenge of trying to incorporate 3 completely different papers (I allowed for matching colours!)

Take 2

Well take 2 and 2 again. I have made 2 cards using the same materials- as set by the DCM team 'I want you to create not just one but TWO cards ! But wait........there's more ! I want both cards to contain the same embellishments and papers, ribbons etc- but arranged in a different way for a different occasion....the only thing being different is the wording....I'll let you have different wording ! (How nice of me eh?) ' Woops, just read the bit about being for different occasions. well the first I did can be general and the second on can be for Valentines? I also used the Di Hickman skecth to create the first card
I used black & white DCWV paper, roses and black and white polka dot ribbon, hero arts definition stamp, dymo labels, red rhinestones, and flat back pearls, and of course.... the rhonna farrer swirl stamp!

Taking Inspiration

Spotted these lovely big Scented Orchid (fake flowers) in the charity shop for a mere 99p, and thought oooh they would look nice on a card. So I used the CPS sketch to come up with this. Although the flower takes up most of the room...

Flying the Nest

Been behind with my blog, as I am settling my DS into Nursery!!! Argh!!! Completing DCM's dare for this week on the theme of 'New' so thought along the lines of New home, and the extra dare to use something New that you have in your craft stash (being the on the move stamp)

It must be Love, love, love....

Had a commission for a 40th Wedding Anniversary (Ruby) and to incorporate the couple's intrests, which were walking, skittles, holidays, and family... Hence the feet making up the heart.

I made this card for a challenge- but for the life of me can't remember who set it!!!! so If you can help please leave a comment!!! The challnge was to make a Valentine's card using only black, white and red...

New Year New Creations

Well Christmas has come and gone and the new year has begun! Nearly a year since my blog began! Well I start this year with another Salt challnge 'Please take Inspiration from the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 6 Verse 21, For where your Treasure is,there your Heart will also be.' And what a challnge it proved to be when my printer tran out of ink, so I Quickutzed the letters! I used a p[lain wooden trasure chest box, stamped it in Gold swirls, and using some wall paper with bees and navy bliue background, it cut them out using my QK revolution (the swirls that is...) Added a few prima's and there you have it!

Love Beyond All Measure

Although I set this weeks SALT challenge, I found it difficult to turn my ideas into reality, but as you can see... Ifinally got there. The challenge 'The verse John 3:16 'For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son, that whoever believed in him shall not live but have everlasting life' It is perhaps a well known verse, but it is a real testimony to our Christian faith, the fact that the babe Jesus was born as a SAVIOUR for our sins. So that if YOU believe that he came to die, and ask for forgiveness YOU ALSO will recieve the GIFT of eternal life in heaven.'

After searching the internet for inspiration I found this verse in the shape of a cross (taken from a tract by Max Lucado), and thought it would be a good way of presenting it. I wanted to make something different, rather than using this as a hanging, or on a card, so thanks to Ruth who suggested to put it on a notebook! Perfect! I vamped up this handmade book given to me as a gift. Hence the before and after shots.

"There is a time for everything"

Everything takes time! And as the Bible reminds us in the book of ecclesiastes 'There is a time for everything'. I seem to be having less time for cards, but I have a had a birthday one to make and a quick turn over of a Ruby one... so here they are. I miss taking part in the challenges, but just havent found enough... time!
